The Lung Cancer Screening programme (previously known as the Targeted Lung Health Check service) aims to find lung cancer earlier, when it is more treatable and outcomes are better for patients.
The programme is available to eligible patients aged 55 to 74 across Sussex who are at higher risk of developing lung cancer.
Patients are invited directly to take part in the programme and do not need to contact their GP practice.
How the service works
- Eligible patients are invited for a lung health check
- A risk assessment is carried out to decide whether a CT scan is needed
- CT scans take place in local community settings
- Results are reviewed by specialist teams
- If any follow-up is needed, patients will be contacted and referred to the appropriate service
We support the administration and coordination of patients within the screening programme, including ensuring patients are reviewed and referred for follow-up where appropriate.
